MAME4droid (0.37b5)

MAME4droid is an Android version of iMAME4all, originally developed by David Valdeita (Seleuco), which is a port of the MAME 0.37b5 emulator created by Nicola Salmoria and TEAM. Additionally, it is based on GP2X, WIZ MAME4ALL 2.5 by Franxis.

MAME4droid allows users to emulate arcade games that are supported by the original MAME 0.37b5, with the inclusion of some additional games from newer MAME versions. This version boasts an extensive library, emulating over 2000 different romsets. However, due to the large quantity of games, performance may vary, and certain games may not run optimally or at all on MAME4droid.

Regarding device performance, owners of older devices may experience subpar performance. It is recommended to improve performance by adjusting settings such as using lower quality sound, lowering sound depth, underclocking the CPU and Sound CPUs, disabling stick and button animations, and turning off smooth scaling.

After installation, users should place their MAME-titled zipped roms in the /sdcard/ROMs/MAME4all/roms folder. It's important to note that MAME4droid exclusively uses '0.37b5' romsets. For converting romsets from other MAME versions to be compatible with this iteration, a "clrmame.dat" file is included in the /sdcard/ROMs/MAME4all/ directory for use with the ClrMAME Pro utility.
